About Us

Hello and welcome to our blog!😀

We are delighted to have you join our community of readers, thinkers, and enthusiasts. This blog is dedicated to sharing ideas about waste management, how we are coming up with ideas to make Bhutan a clean and green place and about ourselves! We appreciate you for visiting our blog and being part of this project together. Remember friends! Do not throw your trash anywhere you like because there is a proper place for it to be thrown in called 'Dustbin/trashcan'

The Team consists of five members:

- Tashi Jamtsho Rai
- Ngawang Ghaya Lhamo
- Gyelzin Nyingsel Gyelmo
- Shreya Monger
- Rigsel Kelzang Wangchuk

Although we are different, we share many similarities. We live by the motto "different but best friends." We formed this group earlier this year. In the initial stages of our friendship, we would simply hang out and meet each other at school, engaging in conversations. However, everything changed when Sir Mani Wangdi introduced the 'Innovation Tournament.' Gyelzin and Tashi thought, "Why don't we give it a try as a group?" After some consideration, we all agreed to participate in the tournament. The moment arrived when we were called into the school ICT lab for the results, and to our delight, we were selected! Gyelzin and Ngawang were so overjoyed that they held hands and shook each other in excitement.

Following the announcement of the results, we grew even closer as a group. We created more memories together and developed a deeper sense of trust. Ultimately, this tournament breathed life into the actual individuals behind the name "Garbage Goblins." Every time we met, we found ourselves discussing and delving deeper into the details of the tournament. We hope to continue our friendship and strengthen our bond even after the tournament.

Here are our roles in the Innovation Tournament:

First, Rigsel Kelzang Wangchuk serves as the team leader. His responsibilities include image editing, video editing, blog maintenance, coding, and execution.

Second, Shreya Monger takes on the roles of blog maintenance, narration, interviewing, and sound effects.

Third, Tashi Jamtsho Rai is the primary blog maintainer, script editor, and blog editor.

Fourth, Ngawang Ghaya Lhamo handles graphic design and #professional Pinterest scroller!

Fifth, Gyelzin Nyingsel Gyelmo is responsible for video editing, text editing, and overseeing animations.

First day of Video Documenting

On a Saturday, we planned to meet up at 11 am. Unfortunately, the school's plans for the Dzongkha nursery rhyme competition were disrupted as the contestants were granted permission by the principal to work on their video documentaries. Originally, Sir Mani Wangdi had suggested a meeting time of 9 am, coinciding with the school nursery rhyme competition. However, we were all too tired to wake up that early, so we ended up gathering at 12 noon instead. We started discussing and planning on our next step, whom to interview in the town? where to do it? how should we do it? Never mind the serious thinking, we just got ice cream before starting everything to cool down our minds(ice cream image). After the delicious milk ice cream and aggressive biting, we headed down to the town to first of all, print our script as we needed to look as professional and ethical as possible. The printing was kinda hectic as there were some issues with the business owner but we managed to pay up and starte...

World Environmental Day

On world environmental day, select students and student leaders were selected to attend the conference in the Dzongkhag administration. Fortunately the entire team got to attend and one of our members, Tashi, got an opportunity to address the issue with climate change and our "collective negligence".  The conference was an amazing way to start off a domino reaction to get everyone started on advocacy and  Greta Thunberg stuff. The day was also important to address the issues caused by the HOT temperatures.  The team was busy taking notes for what they could take from the meeting and apply in this competition, the most notable being the "Zero Waste App" which apparently pays you money for snitching on offenders who violate Bhutan's environmental laws, basically reporting a person committing offenses has a huge fine amount ranging from Nu.250 to Nu.30,000, which is free pocket money by now Also they had four air conditioners on and they served momos, tea, water bu...

3rd Day of Video Documenting , May 28th 2023

On May 28th, 2023, we the Garbage Goblins, had decided to meet up during the weekend to continue our video documentary. We had purchased new equipment to further enhance the quality of our documentary. The original plan was to meet up at Bakelicious for some food and discuss our next steps. However, we were late and ended up meeting at 2pm instead of 1pm. After our discussion (and food), we explored the town a bit to record footage and then headed to the football ground. There, we became distracted and spent an hour playing tag, snacking, filming, and having a conversation about our lives as friends. The next plan was to record in Sukriti. We sang along to music and walked there. The scenery was good enough to be filmed, so we took out our selfie sticks and climbed up. Unfortunately, Rigsel got too engrossed in recording and was planning to do a risky shot over the cliff, which made the anxious group worry about him falling or losing his phone (unfortunately, no good drone shots). We t...
