2nd day of video documenting (The day we were ready to give up)

21st of May was the day we nearly gave up on this tournament. It was Sunday and our second day to go out and work on our documentary, that day was tough for us. We had slept late the night  before going through the interviews we did on Saturday ,our homework and our house chores. Due to sleeping late the night before, we decided to sleep more in the morning and meet at 1pm in the afternoon. But what we didn’t take notes about was health conditions and the weather conditions. Two members from our team had terrible cramps and the weather was extremely gloomy.

While texting each other on social media, we started to question whether the tournament was worth our time, effort and our energy. We kept on seeing the other teams doing way better than us and our self esteem hit rock bottom. We contemplated “why are we actually doing this?” Everyone in our team was struggling and all of us thought about how it might not be worth it. We also thought about calling our coordinator sir Mani Wangdi and quitting the competition.

Still, we decided to go through this day and decide. Unfortunately, 2 members from the team couldn’t make it to the 2nd day due to health problems. So it was only Gyelzin, Tashi and Rigsel,  who are all extremely introverted.

After writing the consent forms it was time for the trio to start interviewing people. The three got their first interview in Megabites where Mr. Bir Bdr Rai expressed his concern about the children not managing the waste properly and also there not being enough trash bins around the town.  the three headed to Samtse town and were on their heels looking for people that wanted to answer their questions.

For their second interview the three got their next interview and Khamsum Bakery, where the interviewee shared the food waste management in their bakery and how they dispose of trash

The team headed to “Be happy Café” next where they expressed concerns on the impact of waste in the future.

The unpredictable weather failed us at around 3 PM when it started raining heavily. The team ran to Shreyas house where the discussed their future plans for the teams and finalizing that the Garbage Goblins were going to get through this.

The interview was yet to be done though, at around 7 PM, Tashi got in contact with Mrs. Tshering Dolkar who talked about the waste dump near Khandrothang being almost filled and also how the waste was impacting everyone, even her family.

With this, the team ended the day at around 3 pm after finalizing everything.

World Environmental Day

On world environmental day, select students and student leaders were selected to attend the conference in the Dzongkhag administration. Fortunately the entire team got to attend and one of our members, Tashi, got an opportunity to address the issue with climate change and our "collective negligence".  The conference was an amazing way to start off a domino reaction to get everyone started on advocacy and  Greta Thunberg stuff. The day was also important to address the issues caused by the HOT temperatures.  The team was busy taking notes for what they could take from the meeting and apply in this competition, the most notable being the "Zero Waste App" which apparently pays you money for snitching on offenders who violate Bhutan's environmental laws, basically reporting a person committing offenses has a huge fine amount ranging from Nu.250 to Nu.30,000, which is free pocket money by now Also they had four air conditioners on and they served momos, tea, water bu...

Audio Recording and narration

Wednesday, 7th June, We the Gob have started on audio recording in the ICT lab after club hours, Unfortunately one of our members, Tashi, is not present so its the 4 of us working on the narration and voice overs. The progress is taking place in the ICT lab where we first started with the draft of our narration by practicing in front of the microphone. We tried one by one and listened to our voices to check who would be suitable enough to do the narration for us, Shreya was the first one to try as we had initially decided to set her as the narrator for our video documentary. After several tries, Ngawang is the CHOSEN one for our voice recording. She was reluctant and hesitant at first however sir Mani Wangdi's words of encouragement and Shreya bargaining her with kurkure{snack} did the trick. Reattempts and corrections of pronunciations, rate of speech and audibility were made again and again.  Ngawang tried again and again unless she was satisfied with the clip. We were the first ...

First day of Video Documenting

On a Saturday, we planned to meet up at 11 am. Unfortunately, the school's plans for the Dzongkha nursery rhyme competition were disrupted as the contestants were granted permission by the principal to work on their video documentaries. Originally, Sir Mani Wangdi had suggested a meeting time of 9 am, coinciding with the school nursery rhyme competition. However, we were all too tired to wake up that early, so we ended up gathering at 12 noon instead. We started discussing and planning on our next step, whom to interview in the town? where to do it? how should we do it? Never mind the serious thinking, we just got ice cream before starting everything to cool down our minds(ice cream image). After the delicious milk ice cream and aggressive biting, we headed down to the town to first of all, print our script as we needed to look as professional and ethical as possible. The printing was kinda hectic as there were some issues with the business owner but we managed to pay up and starte...
